• IPhone XS teardown reveals L-shaped battery and more watertight seals

1 month ago - By GSMArena

The new iPhones are hitting the shelves tomorrow, but we already get to take a peek inside thanks to FixjeiPhone's teardown. The iPhone XS and XS Max are both subjected to it and we now know more about their internals.
Right off the bat, the guy disassembling the device said the screen is now much harder to pop out compared to the previous generation iPhone X due to the additional watertight seals. The new seals ensure that the device can be submerged in 2 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes without any issues - that's what the IP68 rating gives you. The IP67-rated phones like the...

    Apple's new $1,000 iPhone XS doesn't come with a fast-charging brick.
You'd need to spend $70 on the relevant accessories to fast-charge the $1,000 iPhone XS.
With a starting price of $1,000, the iPhone XS should come with a fast-charging brick. The fact that it doesn't makes it feel like Apple missed an easy and relatively inexpensive opportunity to provide the "complete package."
Everything about the new iPhone XS and XS Max exudes luxury.
From the edge-to-edge OLED displays, stainless steel construction, a camera that reviewers rave about, to the excellent speakers and iOS 12 operating...

This is hands down the best deal you can find on a refurbished iPhone 7

1 month ago - By Phone Arena

Countless market reports showed the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus impressively retaining their popularity on the heels of last year's iPhone 8/8 Plus/X release, but with the hot new iPhone XS and XS Max up for pre-order, the affordable XR right around the corner, and the 8 and 8 Plus available cheaper than before, all the excitement over 2016's generation may have fizzled out.
If you don't feel that way, you'll want to keep in mind Apple is still selling the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, starting at $449 and $569 respectively. The two are obviously even more reasonably priced in certified refurbished ...

Apple iPhone XS benchmarks confirm chart-topping performance

1 month ago - By GSMArena

The colleagues over at Tom's Guide were able to get their hands on the new iPhone XS and XS Max and put them both through extensive testing. They even put Apple's new flagships against Android's current best smartphones sporting Snapdragon 845 chipsets and last year's iPhone X.
As expected, multi-core performance isn't a big leap over the A11 Bionic from 2017 but single core performance is vastly improved. And when put against Android's current flagships, it's a clean sweep for the A12.
The available synthetic benchmarks are Geekbench 4, 3DMark Slingshot Extreme and GFXBench...

Ladies and gentlemen, the first teardown of the new 2018 Apple crop is here, and it is of the 5.8" iPhone XS. Is it the same inside as the iPhone X, does it sport the same battery capacity, did it blend? All pressing questions which the video above answers with aplomb.
To that middle question - the L-shaped battery is a tad different than the 2716mAh capacity unit that is installed in the iPhone X. The repair guy that did the video and the label on the pack itself say 2658mAh, referring to the actual capacity. This is slightly smaller than on the X, even ...

Some old iPhone X cases may not fit the iPhone XS, after all

1 month ago - By Phone Arena

The new iPhone XS has absolutely the same dimensions as the outgoing iPhone X and third-party case makers are listing their X cases as compatible with the XS. Apple, however, doesn't and has removed most mentions of the X from its accessory website.
One of the reasons Apple doesn't want you to browse the X-files anymore is because its first notch-ed phone is being phased out and completely replaced by the XS, even going by the same price tag.
The other could be that the XS camera bump turned out to be slightly larger than ...
