  • FCC Proposes Greater Freedom to Block Unwanted Calls

    At its June 6th meeting, the FCC will consider new rules giving phone companies greater power to block robocalls. Companies would be allowed to completely block calls before they reach a consumer's phone "based on any reasonable analytics designed to identify unwanted calls", and make this the default behavior for all customers. Companies could also send such calls directly to voicemail. The new rules would also allow phone companies to block calls that fail SHAKEN/STIR authentication, the new protocol designed to fight number spoofing.
