21 days ago - By Phone Arena

Now that all three 2018 iPhones are available (OK, the XR is still in the pre-order stage), those who held out on a new iPhone purchase will finally need to make their choice... A choice between the $999+ iPhone XS or XS Max and the “cheaper” iPhone XR.
Turns out, the XR doesn't cut that many corners. You lose 3D Touch, but that's a feature that many have called useless for years. You lose a telephoto lens, but is it really that important? And you get an LCD panel with a 326 pixels per inch density, which is not as fancy as the new OLED panels on the XS models.
    But hey, the processor ...

Apple caught a lot of flak for the way selfies from the new iPhone XS range of handsets looked, because it seemed like the devices were applying a ‘beauty filter' with no way to turn it off. The Verge reports that Apple will fix it soon enough with a software update in iOS 12.1. You can see an example in the image above: The picture on the left is from a OnePlus 5T, and the one on the right is from the iPhone XS. IPhone XR review roundup: Lower price with no big compromises

21 days ago - By TheBoyGeniusReport

Come Friday, the iPhone XR launches in stores and preordered units ship to early buyers in what will likely be another successful iPhone launch for Apple. The iPhone XR is essentially an iPhone XS version that makes a few minor compromises when it comes to screen and camera specs. But other than that, the iPhone XR will deliver the same experience as the iPhone XS phones, including the speedy performance the Pixel 3 and other Android flagships can only dream of.
If you're still unsure whether to get the iPhone XR over the XS or any Android phone, then you should check out the first iPhone...

When Apple unveiled the iPhone XS and XS Max, future buyers of the company's priciest mobile devices to date were promised significant camera performance upgrades and neat new photography tricks like Smart HDR and dynamic depth of field.
The single front-facing shooter, while nowhere near as aggressively promoted as the dual rear cam system, was also supposed to gain a number of big improvements, including that aforementioned Depth Control feature for adjusting the blur of your Portrait mode selfies.
But iPhone XS and XS Max owners never signed up for what many described as ...

This year's most exciting iPhone arguably isn't the iPhone XS. It might be the iPhone XS Max because of its uncharacteristically huge size but it's really the iPhone XR that's piquing people's interests. IOS 12.1 will improve selfie quality on the iPhone XS and XR

21 days ago - By The Verge

Ever since the iPhone XS came out, there's been criticism of its front camera - specifically, that it overly smooths skin. This, of course, was dubbed “Beautygate” in reference to Samsung-style beautification filters, which Apple has always insisted it doesn't use.
Whatever the case, it was definitely there, but now it's going away: during our iPhone XR review, Apple told me that iOS 12.1 will fix a bug in its smart HDR camera system that resulted in smoother-looking photos taken by the front camera on the iPhone XS and XR.
A tweak to Smart HDR will result in selfies with more...
