• Let's just relax about the Pixel 2 XL display

1 month ago - By Android Central

Relax. There's a reason no one had anything bad to say about this display in their initial hands on articles.
Google's Nexus phones got a lot of undeserved praise in their time. Go back and look at a lot of those reviews, and you'll see a lot of talk about how great those phones were "for the price" with a lot of glaring flaws overlooked. Good news, times have changed! Google's phones are priced like premium phones now, and they deserve to be critiqued as such. If you read Pixel 2 XL reviews all over the web, one thing you'll see with the quality reviewers out there is an especially...

The Pixel 2 XL has a 6-inch problem on the front of it which you've probably heard about. It's currently the subject of a great deal of discussion among smartphone fans, in a stand-off that has "it's terrible for an £800 phone" on one side to "you probably...

Google responds to Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL display complaints

1 month ago - By MobileSyrup

Google's Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL flagship phones have been relatively well-received, but there have been complaints lodged against the device's screens. Users from The Verge, Reddit and Ars Technica have reported colour and viewing issues with the Pixel 2's screen. Rose Behar and Patrick O'Rourke touched on screen issues in their review for MobileSyrup , writing that “the Pixel 2 XL's screen looks solid, though a yellow undertone prevents it from matching Samsung's marquee display technology.” In the same review, they add that the Pixel 2 “also has a slightly overbearing warmth that results...

The HTC U11 Plus has now been spotted in a set of renders, depciting the handset's design for the first time. IFixit Finds Google's Pixel 2 XL To Be Somewhat Repairable

1 month ago - By Android Headlines

Smartphone repair service iFixit known for its detailed teardowns of contemporary mobile devices published its analysis of the Pixel 2 XL earlier today, deeming Google's new Android-powered phablet somewhat repairable. The company's teardown resulted in the handset being disassembled in its entirety, with iFixit ultimately awarding it a repairability score of six out of ten on its subjective scale. This rating is lower to that given by the firm to the original Pixel XL last year , with the main difference between the two being that the newer model features a battery that isn't as easy to...

  • Google Pixel 2 & Pixel 2 XL Now Available from Verizon

1 month ago - By Android Headlines

Verizon now has the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL in stock and has already begun shipping them to pre-order customers. If you are one that did not pre-order the Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL, you can order yours today and have it shipped as soon as possible, or head to your local Verizon store and get your hands on one. Now while the official launch is today, Verizon's website does note that the Pixel 2 XL should be shipping around November 8th. • Pixel vs. Pixel 2: the five biggest changes

Pixel vs. Pixel 2: the five biggest changes

1 month ago - By The Verge

It's no secret around these parts that I've been deeply enamored with Google's Pixel. That Android smartphone came almost out of nowhere last year to claim the crown of best mobile camera, and in the process it swept me up as a loyal fan as well. Sure, Google had previously dabbled in the mobile hardware business with its Nexus line, but the first Pixel phones were immediately recognizable as much more serious business. Over the past week I've been getting to grips with the Pixel's successor, the Pixel 2 - both of them in their “regular” 5-inch versions - and trying to decide if enough has...

People are completely flipping out over issues with the Pixel 2's display

1 month ago - By TheBoyGeniusReport

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are already in the hands of consumers, and as is the case with most new products, people are already complaining. The main problem affecting the new Pixel 2 phones concerns the screen. Specifically, some people say there's something wrong with the Pixel 2 XL's display.
But is there really a problem? Yes. And no. Well, not exactly. But maybe. The good news, at least, is that Google says it might fix this problem that isn't a problem but sort of is a problem if you don't like it.

Pixel 2 XL teardown reveals LG battery, heat pipe, and Google's first custom processor

1 month ago - By Phone Arena

The crafty folks from iFixit have gone through the trouble to take apart the new Google Pixel 2 XL, and it turned out that it wasn't much of a trouble, at least as far as today's sealed waterproof flagships are concerned, as we've seen recent phones much harder to repair. The Pixel 2 XL got a 6/10 score for repairability, and, despite that it is water-resistant with IP67 certification, it doesn't even need heating to open up, unlike the vast majority of today's glass-and-metal flagships.
The phone is indeed LG inside, as given away by the branding of ...
