Switch Lite: Which Games Are Impacted By The Feature Changes?

3 monthes ago - By GameSpot

Nintendo's upcoming Switch Lite exclusively focuses on portable play and removes the ability to play on a TV entirely. A few of the original Switch's features are being removed. There are no detachable Joy-Con controllers , nor is there IR motion cameras or HD Rumble functionality. As you'd expect, stripping out these features from the Switch Lite inevitably impacts several existing games. Nintendo itself has acknowledged this fact by saying the console only plays games that work in handheld mode. With a massive library of over 2,000 games and counting, you might not easily recall all the...

  • Why the World Needs a Nintendo Switch Pro

3 monthes ago - By IGN

The rumors were true all along, and Nintendo Switch Lite is a real thing: a smaller, cheaper version of the Nintendo console we all hold dear. It's perfectly timed and designed to coincide with Pokemon Shield and Sword, along with the rest of the Switch games destined to dominate the hearts and minds of holiday shoppers.
That's all well and good, but we still need the third section of the Nintendo Switch tri-force: the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro. This Tri-Force of Power in the Switch console line-up is more important now than ever.

  • The Nintendo Switch Lite Is Inferior, but I'm Going to Buy It Anyway

3 monthes ago - By IGN

I'm going to buy the Switch Lite. It was as easy as Nintendo announcing that the new version of the system is “dedicated to handheld play” to get me on board. I've had a Switch since day 1, so this sudden excitement for another may seem a little silly, but I've got some good reasons... or at least good enough for me.
I've always been a Nintendo handheld kind of person. While I've had just about every Nintendo home console since the N64 - sorry Wii U - I'm still just as invested in Nintendo's handheld offerings. The only major Nintendo handhelds I've missed at this point are the original...

While this means that it'll be limited in some aspects-no docking or detachable Joy-Con, among other things-it comes at a lower cost and a slightly smaller design. This is meant not as a replacement, but as an alternative to the standard Switch, which could be getting some hardware tweaks of its own. There are some benefits to the new Lite model; what you can immediately see in the first photos is a traditional directional pad. It also boasts improved...

Switch Lite - When And Why Nintendo Refreshes Portable Hardware

3 monthes ago - By GameSpot

Nintendo has announced the Switch Lite , a smaller and lighter model that lacks the TV docking mode. That makes this version of the Switch a dedicated handheld, similar to Nintendo's long legacy with the Game Boy, DS, and 3DS. Hardware revisions have become a regular practice for Nintendo's handheld systems, for a variety of reasons. To glean why, and what this might mean for the future of the Nintendo Switch, we can take a look back at Nintendo's history of hardware revisions. From Game Boy to 2DS Lite The Game Boy, Nintendo's first dedicated handheld hardware , was followed by both the...
